Dear Members,

 

The excitement is felt on the ground as clubs are abuzz with organizing the Evaluation Contest and Humorous Speech Contests.

These club champions will soon be moving on to compete at Area level and subsequently to Division level. The culmination will be in Singapore Semi Annual Convention on 22-24 November 2002, where the best of the 16 Divisions will be represented.

As the Evaluation and Humorous Speech Contests are organized, please ensure that all the clubs follow the guidelines in the Speech Contest Rulebook and  Manual to avoid any misrepresentation.

Time frames for the contests are :

By end of August - Club level

By end of September - Area level

By middle of October - Division level

We encourage every club to strive to hold a contest or if not to field in a contestant to the Area level. Have more than 3 judges to build a more balanced judging and exercise the spirit of Toastmasters for all contests to be conducted within a conducive and learning environment.

If there are Areas where there are 4 assigned clubs 8 weeks prior to the Contest, they have the option to allow contestants of the 2 highest positions to compete at the Area and subsequently this holds also for Divisions with 4 assigned Areas.

To converge the highlights of the contests at the District level in Singapore, the 2 Contest Chairmen are :

Evaluation Contest - Patrick Oei

Humorous Speech Contest - Ernest Chen
