Report from District Governor Dr. John Lau DTM

I was in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, joining the Kota Kinabalu Toastmasters Club Installation dinner on July 6th, 2002 and the Division K Council meeting on July 7th morning.

KKTMC INSTALLTION DINNER
It was a great installation, attended by 300 over members and guests; we have witnessed that not only Toastmasters are able to speak well, KK TMC members can also act as movie stars,  singers and actors.  President Richard Gontusan  ATMB has delivered an  inspiring and persuasive  speech at the installation dinner.  IPP Christine Ngui ATMB who is also the current Area K1 Governor was the star of the night by displaying a superb performance, well done Christine!

I am pleased to share that the Speaker of the Sabah Legislative Assembly Datuk Haji Hassan Alban Sandukong is a member of the KKTMC.  He has achieved his CTM in May 2002 ( English ) and he has also completed the CTM in Bahasa Malaysia.

DIVISION K COUNCIL MEETING
It was well attended by all the Area Governors in Division K.  They have flown in from Labuan, Sandakan and Tawau to attend the Division Council meeting held in Kota Kinabalu.   Division K Governor Christopher Liew DTM has presented the Division K Calendar for approval at the council meeting;  he has also summarized the DCP forecast from all the Clubs by Areas.

Out of 24 Clubs, 11 are going for 10 out of 10 DCP Goals, and 6 going for 9 out of 10.  Well done Division Governor Christopher Liew for having the forward planning.  They set the goals, they monitor the club progress in an Excel (xls) format table, and they have specially invited 2 renown speakers to share with the members on leadership makes the difference and  all about being BETTER,  members of the Division K Council were charged up and set sail to achieve the goals set early in the term.

I am encouraged by the fact that at this early hours in the new term, they have the new clubs potential identified as well.  They are going for Every Area A New Club.

PIDATO CLUBS
We have met the District Pidato Club Co-ordinator Fatimah Yassin, she has highlighted that she will be most willing to help members as and when members are ready to build a Pidato TMC.

Yours sincerely,
