SIM Mandarin Toastmasters Club has marched passed 10 years with many great achievements. We will be organizing an event on October 12, 2002 to share with fellow Toastmasters our achievements, our experience and our journey through those 10 years.
Below are the events lined up for our celebration:
1) In the afternoon, we will have a workshop in Mandarin on how to prepare a humorous speech. Our speakers are champions in the District 51 Mandarin Humorous and International Speech Contests in the past few years, from Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
2) We will have an exhibition gallery to display our achievements, our contributions to Toastmasters International and our activities in the past 10 years.
3) At night, we will have a dinner at Yunan Yuan, Sakura Ballroom at IMM.
Below are the highlights of the night:
- Welcome Guest of Honour, Senior Minister of State and MP for Joo Chiat Constituency. Also present will be our Singapore Institute of Management CEO, Mr. Ronald Tan and his top management staff.
- Delivery of speeches by Guest of Honour, CEO of SIM, District 51 Governor Dr. John Lau and Organizing Chairman.
- VCD presentations on our journey for the past 10 years.
- Performance from our members and members of fellow Toastmasters Clubs.
- Series of Champion Speeches. We have invited 7 speakers who were champions
in the District 51 Humorous and International Speech Contests from Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore to deliver their winning speeches. There will be 2 English, 1 Cantonese and 4 Mandarin speeches.
- Closing speech by our club's 11th president who is also the co-chairman for our 10th
anniversary celebration followed by a sing along session.
4) We will also publish a commemorative magazine to record our journey in the past 10 years and a motivational section on success stories of successful businessmen. 3,000 to 5,000 copies of the magazine will be printed and distributed to everyone attending the
function and the sponsors and members of various Toastmasters Clubs.
The members of the organizing committee have put in tremendous effort to ensure the success of our 10th anniversary. We are very grateful to the management of SIM who has rendered support to us in terms of funding and arranging for media coverage. We are also very honoured to have our Minister of State and MP for Joo Chiat Constituency as our Guest of Honour for the night.
