Dear Toastmasters,
Dr Ralph C Smedley and a few men met at YMCA in the Santa Ana, California, USA in October 1924 and conducted the first meeting of what would eventually evolve into what we know today as Toastmasters.
One person initiated a communications and leadership training program that would go on to benefit millions of people all over the world. Many of us continue to enjoy the benefits today.
In honor of Dr. Ralph C Smedley, I call on you to bring the same benefits to your friends, to your colleagues and to those whom you meet everyday.
Toastmasters International recognizes your club for its contribution to the growth and development of Toastmasters with the Smedley Award when 5 or more members are recruited in August and September 2002.
TI District 51 recognizes the individual for their contribution with the Governor's Award when a member recruits 3 or more members.
We can help bring out the best in people when we dare to excel.
Dare to Excel,
Gea Ban Peng DTM
Lieutenant Governor Marketing
